Love is a verb. Not a feeling.

I’m actually quite tired of the Chris Brown news (which is why it makes sense to contribute to it, ha) but unfortunately it’s going to be everywhere for a few days it looks like. Initially I was sort of mad that people were vilifying him again for the simple fact that it’s been taken to a level that doesn’t match other celebrities. Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds, Sean Penn, Nicolas Cage, John Lennon, Terrance Howard, Nick Carter, David Hasselhoff … the list goes on, which is quite sad.

That showed me two things were evident: that our society doesn’t really care too much if a man hits their woman, and that you’re much more likely to get persecuted if you’re a person of color. So I’ll admit, I wanted the media to lay off on Chris Brown because he was black and thought they were going at him too hard.

But then I regained my sense.

Chris Brown is an idiot. After reading the police report, it’s astounding that he only got off with having to pick up trash on the highway. It was gruesome. He got off. Then, he somehow made himself to be the victim, which is why his “comeback” at the Grammy’s was such a big story. Never at any point has he truly taken responsibility for his actions. And he’s largely been rewarded for them. There’s no way he should be in the spotlight like he is.

The thing is, there are still women that find this dude attractive, which to me is even more sad. How a woman could be attracted to a man who did what he did to Rihanna’s face is beyond me. It’s up there with finding serial killers attractive; I don’t think that the crimes are on the same level, not at all, but at some point isn’t there a period where the acts someone commits overrules how their face looks?

I think Chris Brown is an idiot, the media are idiots, and any woman who genuinely still likes the guy is an idiot.
